| Reliability
and Transferability
For any testing method,
it is important to ensure the reliability of data across experiments and
across laboratories. When specifically considering a flow cytometric scoring
method such as this, it is critical to have a standard, reliable approach
for defining the analysis regions. MicroFlow Kits make use of cells infected
with the rodent parasite Plasmodium berghei to accomplish these
goals. The amount of DNA in a malaria parasite is constant and is also
similar to the amount of DNA contained in micronuclei. These cells are
therefore an ideal choice for this purpose, and their use greatly improves
the quality of data obtained.
The use of this
biological standard with every analysis continually ensures that
the flow cytometer is optimized for accurate and reliable micronucleus
measurement.
